Null City · Book II
Sci-Fi Noir Romance · April 14, 2026
Someone is wearing her face. And the system says they're both real.
Three months after proving one murdered woman existed, analog PI Kato faces a new impossible case. May Debauchee has an exact visual duplicate. Same biometrics. Same voiceprint. Same OmniNet identity. And that duplicate just committed murder.
To trace the forgery, Phi has to go below the city into the service arteries, the black-market routes hidden under Astor Vala's towers. She needs a guide who knows how to move through spaces that surveillance can't find.
She gets Kite Rhyne. Kite is a ghost-runner. They're fast, dangerous, and impossible to bluff. The closer they work, the harder Phi finds it to keep separate what counts from attraction. That would be problem enough if the case stopped at one copy and one body. It doesn't. More duplications surface. More women are targeted. And the pattern points past street-level fakers to something far worse: a corporate system designed not just to erase inconvenient women, but to replace them.
Now Phi is hunting an operation the OmniNet was built to protect. If she wants proof that will survive examination, she'll have to trust a woman who may be hiding part of the route, lean on a man who still works inside the machine, and expose the architecture before the next victim loses her name.
Tropes: Identity mystery. Nonbinary love interest. Forced partnership. Corporate conspiracy. Analog vs digital. Guaranteed HEA.
